VecTranTM technology is the next generation of stacked-trait insertion.
YieldGard VTTM technology combines traits into a single DNA-insertion
process, which is more efficient and less time-consuming in
developing hotter products containing stacked traits. This
process is called VecTran technology, which stands for “Vectorstack
Transformation”.
With VecTran technology, two or more genes are inserted together, side-by-side, into the plant chromosome. It is a more-natural insertion process and increases the number of potential products containing the stacked-traits on sites of the chromosomes.
And because it bypasses the traditional breeding process, growers can get elite germplasm with better, higheryielding traits 6 to 12 months faster. The initial products will be YieldGard VTTM Rootworm/RR2 and YieldGard VTTM Triple.
YieldGard VTTM hybrids contain a better promoter.
A huge benefit of YieldGard VTTM products is that you get stacked-trait hybrids with a highly active and more consistent promoter of the rootworm gene. The promoter is a biotech switch that turns on the gene to produce the insect-control protein and more effectively distribute it throughout the root system.
What makes a VT hybrid better at insect protection?
When comparing the roots of first-generation YieldGard hybrids to new
YieldGard VTTM hybrids, YieldGard VTTM roots
express a more-consistent distribution of insecticidal protein. The
accompanying photo shows that the firstgeneration YieldGard roots
sufficiently express insecticidal protein. The second photo shows
that new YieldGard VTTM
YieldGard VT products have a more-effective promoter, which delivers a more-consistent level of insecticidal protein expression.
